Join the Clear Risk Management Team to understand how to manage and improve performance within the workplace.

With unfair dismissal rights now effective from six months, managers cannot afford to allow performance issues to drift. Consistent, well-documented performance management is both a productivity lever and a legal safeguard.

The training is aimed at business owners, senior managers, line managers and HR professionals, and is beneficial for any who are new to the role or for those requiring a refresh into managing performance following the changes introduced by the Employment Rights Act 2025. Our trainer will also be on hand should you have any specific issues you’d like to discuss.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

Explain the distinction between performance (capability) issues and conduct issues and understand the different legal and procedural frameworks that apply to each
Set clear, specific and measurable performance expectations using structured objective-setting frameworks, from the start of employment
Conduct regular, purposeful performance conversations (including probation reviews, one-to-ones and appraisals) that motivate improvement and create evidential records.
Give constructive, evidence-based feedback that is specific, balanced and legally defensible.
Introduce an informal performance improvement conversation before escalating to formal process, and understand when informal intervention is no longer appropriate.
Design and implement a formal Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) that is fair, measurable and legally compliant
Document performance concerns and management interventions accurately to build an evidence trail that supports further formal action up to and including dismissal if required
