Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

• Define sexual harassment under the Equality Act 2010 and explain the proactive employer duty introduced by the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023
• Identify the full range of behaviours that could constitute sexual harassment.
• Understand what 'all reasonable steps' means in practice and how organisations can demonstrate compliance through policy, training, culture and process
• Recognise the signs that harassment may be occurring and understand the obligation to act, even without a formal complaint
• Ensure that a robust disclosure process & action plan is in place and communicated sufficiently.
• Respond to informal disclosures of harassment with sensitivity, consistency and in a way that protects both parties and preserves the integrity of any subsequent process
• Create a team culture where concerns are raised without fear of retaliation, addressed promptly and taken seriously at every level
• Understand the formal investigation process and the manager's role at each stage, including evidence gathering, confidentiality obligations and outcome decisions
• Explain bystander intervention and equip team members to challenge unacceptable behaviour safely and constructively
