Nestling in the heart of the Kent countryside lies Balfour Winery.

The Balfour Tour and Tasting experience takes you on a walk of our vineyards, orchards, and ancient oak woodlands where our history and viticulture practices are brought to life by your guide. Discover how we work alongside nature to produce our award-winning wines and continue to nurture the diverse ecosystem on the estate.

Upon your return to the tasting room, you will be immersed into the world of winemaking as our Head Winemaker, Fergus Elias, talks you through the process of winemaking, from grape to glass, in our short film. 

On a Saturday and Sunday, as part of this tour, you will visit our state-of-the-art winery where you will be guided around our incredible facility where the winemaking and production techniques used for our still and sparkling wines will be explained.*

Conclude the day with a tailored tutored tasting of six Balfour wines that will reflect our diverse range of still and sparkling wines.

Please note Weekend tickets (Friday-Sunday) are priced at £70pp, Midweek tickets are £50pp. 

Tickets for this event must be paid in advance, upon booking.

In the event of a cancellation from the customer, Balfour Winery is unable to offer refunds however, we are happy to provide an alternative date or if no date can be confirmed a voucher for the value of the experience will be issued and can be redeemed at a later time, for the same experience.

In the event of Balfour Winery cancelling a tour, we will issue a full refund. 

If the experience is purchased through a third-party (Travel Zoo, for example) then Balfour winery has no control over refunds or expiry dates for that experience, which will be the responsibility of that third-party. 

The itinerary of the experience may alter depending upon the weather and other factors beyond Balfour Winery’s control. Please do come dressed appropriately for the weather with sensible shoes, a raincoat or umbrella during the winter months.

Photography is welcome in the vineyard, tasting rooms, and visitor areas during your experience; however, filming or video recording is not permitted at any time. No photography or filming is allowed within the winery production areas.

As an agricultural business and working winery, a programme of spraying is in place throughout the year. Whilst every effort is made to not disrupt the tours or detract from our guests’ enjoyment, there will be times when it is not possible to walk the Estate due to spraying. Guests are encouraged to call the Winery on 01622 832794 and check in advance.

The Balfour Tour and Tasting Experience will include elements outside depending upon weather and conditions. Balfour Winery cannot be held responsible for any injury caused by walking on the uneven or muddy ground. Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear are encouraged.

A tasting measure is approximately 50ml. If there are elements of this experience in which guests cannot or prefer not to participate, for example, a guest is unable to or chooses to abstain from drinking alcohol, no discount will be provided but an alternative soft drink will be offered.

Only food and beverages purchased at Balfour Winery may be consumed on-site. Picnics on the Estate are not allowed under any circumstance.

On all public tours, children under the age of 16 are not permitted and cannot go inside the Winery, this includes babies. 

Only visitors over 18 years old will be able to taste the alcohol available. Proof of age may be required (passport/driving license/ID Pass Card).

Dogs are not allowed on tours or to walk the estate (except guide dogs).

Balfour Winery cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage caused to vehicles or property, howsoever caused, whilst on the premises.

Elements of a Balfour Experience may be held on our upstairs level only accessible via stairs. If you have specific access requirements, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance on 01622 832794.

* A tour of the production area of the winery is subject to availability, harvest and potential health and safety restrictions that may be out of Balfour Winery's control.

* Harvest time at Balfour Winery lasts for several weeks during September/October. During this time, it is not possible to enter the winery production area and therefore any tours that include this element will differ from the advertised description. Under these circumstances, a film of the Winemaker and production process will be substituted and a discretionary credit may be offered.
