The Book of Birds takes to the water with Falcon Boats - Sunday Times No. 1 bestseller - 11th July 2026 @ 11.00
As The Book of Birds takes flight Falcon Boats are joining forces with Jackie Morris to create a very special event.
Across the sea from Ramsey Sound lies the bird reserve of Ramsey Island. Join Ffion and Jackie for what they hope to make a trip of a lifetime, meeting the birds who make their nesting home for a short while on the high cliffs of this beautiful island. Listen as Jackie reads the words from Robert Macfarlane, the kittiwake and razorbill, gannet and curlew, and talks about the book, the paintings, while the seabirds fly over and the seals come to listen.
Seven years in the making, Sunday Times no 1 bestseller, this is the third in a series of books. The Lost Words came first, almost ten years ago, followed by The Lost Spells, words and images combining to rewild the classroom. Now The Book of Birds is here, for the generation who have grown up with The Lost Words.
The trip will last around an hour and a half. There is a limit of eleven places, so book early to avoid disappointment. The trip will obviously be weather dependent, but should wind, weather and tide not be kind to us we have a back up plan that we hope will more than satisfy.
We will also talk about The Queen of the Sky, a book born during a boat trip when Ffion rescued a peregrine from drowning, documented in the book Queen of the Skies, written and illustrated by Jackie.
